Hello, I’m Alyssa!
Professionally
I’ve been a writer and editor in tech for over 10 years, creating a wide range of content that helps people learn and drives business goals. I spent 7 years at Meta, specializing in seller, advertiser and consumer education. Prior to tech, I worked in education as a substitute teacher and a writing tutor. And simultaneously with education, I worked in customer service, food service and retail!
My strengths include team leadership, UX content strategy, full lifecycle editing, knowledge & information management, and custom résumé & cover letter development.
Personally
As a Mexican-American woman, it’s important to me to continually elevate other historically disenfranchised people with my skills. To that end, I served as a Latinx employee resource group lead at Meta. I’ve also volunteered with iMentor, SJSU2, and Building Skills Partnership, extending my support to underrepresented people navigating a corporate world that wasn’t created to include them.
I have two personal mottos that motivate me in a slump. They are, “Take one step at a time,” and “Do the thing because the time will pass anyway.”
I’m a Bay Area native living in southeast Los Angeles with my beloved 16-year-old Chihuahua mix named Oliver. This year, I set a reading goal of 50 books in 2025. As of February 2025, my goal status is 9/50.
