Editorial Development
Meta Blueprint offers education through an extensive variety of dynamic content that brings real value to people and businesses globally.
Millions of people rely on Blueprint education to help build and manage their online presence, reach new customers, and use Meta tools like Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp to achieve their business goals.
Here’s what I did as Editorial Lead for Blueprint at Meta.
Led a vital 5-person editorial team to develop and enhance high- quality content at scale, following industry style guides and company standards.
Supported the development of more than 100 tutorials, online courses and in-person trainings, 8 paid certifications for professionals, and more.
Copyedited and revised web content through all writing and production stages, from storyboarding to final publication.
Defined standards and trained content teams on editorial best practices.
Collaborated with creative, product, legal, and marketing teams to understand project needs and extend editorial support appropriately.
Created a custom intake system with an in-house project management tool to field all editorial requests and capture all the required information for my team up front.
Designed and implemented an operations system to assign editors, prioritize requests, balance workloads, anticipate incoming work, and overall maximize editorial team efficiency.
Meta Blueprint education
My actions
To get specific data, I created a simple rubric for the editors to use when evaluating drafts, which quickly highlighted problem areas where we could be most helpful.
To address knowledge gaps, I had my team host editing workshops to cover common errors with clear examples based on real content (with details changed for anonymity).
I created a weekly schedule for my team to publish relevant tips and resources about quality and style guidance.
I led brainstorming sessions to consult partners in SEO, creative, and learning design to integrate feedback and refine content templates.
My impact
As editorial lead, I strengthened the team’s overall writing skills by increasing awareness of content standards, working with content creators through meticulous substantive edits, copy edits and final proofreading checks.
The creative solutions and processes that I implemented solved recurring resource, time management and content development issues.
These efforts resulted in measurably improved content quality and a decrease in editorial production times, since we had fewer content issues to fix up front when projects came to us.
Additionally, I delivered streamlined templates with built-in editorial guidance and direction, which reduced overall content production time and costs for the whole Blueprint team, furthering improved team dynamics.
Meta brand alignment
My actions
After Facebook became Meta, I led a massive content rebrand. I liaised with legal, marketing, and other teams to source guidance and best practices, identify high-priority content, and develop update plans for other content.
I optimized a long brand review process by defining clear guidelines, changing the submission model to include only brand-relevant content. I also built an additional quality check into my team’s publication process to ensure all new material reflected the latest voice and tone standards.
I trained content developers to use the internal resources and terminology tools to boost content quality.
My impact
My Meta rebrand publishing plan provided the business education team with a strategy to complete brand-compliant content updates to thousands of public materials, all medium- and high-priority content, across the entire suite of help and education products in only 12 months.
I reduced my entire content team’s brand review timeline from a week to typically just a few hours, which led to significantly reduced operational expenses. This effort also built trust and a better cross-functional dynamic between legal and brand marketing teams.
In partnership with ERG leads and other content teams, I helped build, develop and launch Meta’s first inclusivity and accessibility-focused terminology dictionary with an internal tool.
The brand content standards trainings and the new terminology project had team-wide and company-wide impact, as the Blueprint team and other global teams could now create more inclusive, accessible content at scale.
